Anyways let's come to the topic. Here are the most famous and effective techniques for lucid dreaming.

1: WBTB (Wake Bed To Bed )   

WBTB is the most famous and easiest technique of lucid dreaming.

Most people's experience lucid dream just in one day throught this method, and the some peoples experience lucid dreams in two days of trying this method, but you will definitely experience lucid dream with this method. The results of this techniques are promising.
How to Lucid Dream Using WBTB 
  • 1: Go to bed, set an alarm to wake you up 5 to 6 hours after your sleep, and sleep.
  • 2: wake up after 6 hours of your sleep. Now you have to wake yourself up for 30 to 40 minutes by doing some sort of activity.
  • 3: Engage your mind in 30 to 40 minutes reading about Lucid dreams. Or read my my article How i came to Lucid dreaming and other experiences. They will definitely inspire you and excite you, you can also think of, if you experience lucid dream, where you want to go ? your favorite place such as an island. Create the fantasy in your mind. Now this is not part of WBTB method, but these tips increase your chance to lucid dream i guaranty.
  • 4:Think of you favourite place in your mind, what you do ? if you will become lucid like swiming,flying etc.. And after 30 min or so go to sleep.
  • 5:Now when sleeping give affirmations to yourself such as "i will lucid in my dreams" etc.. repeat the affirmations mentally and sleep.
If everything goes well, in the dream suddenly you will become lucid.
When you becomes lucid, maintain your awareness by doing reality checks.
When wake up from lucid dream, write down your lucid dream in your dream journel.


The Hands technique from Carlos Castaneda
This is another famous Castaneda technique described in his book Journey to Ixtlan.

How to Lucid Dream Finding your Hands Technique
  • 1: When you sleep, go to your bed, Sit in your bed, bring to mind to the present moment. Take a minute to do this.
  • 2: Casually look at your hands and tell yourself single-minded, "Tonight when i dream, I will see my hands and realize I'm dreaming."
  • 3: Continue to look at your hands and repeat the affirmation mentally, "Tonight when I dream, I will see my hands and i will realize I'm dreaming."
  • 4: Don't be bothered, if your eyes becomes heavy or you begin to get tired. Remain at peace and continue to repeat your intent slowly and gently.
  • 5. After five minutes, or once you feel too tired or sleepy, quietly end the practice.  Gently remind yourself of your intention to see your hands in a dream and go to sleep.
  • 6: When you wake up in the night, try to recall your  dream; did you see your hands in the dream? When sleeping again, give the same affirmations and intention to see your hands and realize that you're dreaming.
If you Experience lucid dream, write it down in your dream journal. Write the entire dream details, how you realized, what you did ? when you become aware that you were dreaming, all the details.

MILD (Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams

This is prospective memory technique. Created by Stephen LaBerge he described it in his book (Exploring the World Of Lucid Dreaming).

Mild is effective technique of lucid dreaming, it is involve prospective memory and visualization.
Before you use this technique you have to be good in Prospective memory. 
(Prospective memory is defined as the memory for intentions. It means remember to carry out an action that has been planned for a predefined time in the future).

Planned Future intention: Such as if you intend, 
  • When i will go to office, i will remember to check the time in clock, 
  • When i will go grocery store, I'll remember to buy something, 
  • When i will cross the road, i will see the school bus that always cross, 
  • The next time when i see my face in a mirror, i will check my reality etc..
Now in dream, we use the intention to remember to do reality check and become aware. if you are not good in Prospective memory then try other techniques.

How to Lucid Dream MILD Teachnique
  • 1: Set up an alarm to wake you up after 6 hours of your sleep and then sleep When sleeping give the affirmations to yourself for the dream recall. Such as"i will remember my dream clearly" etc..
  • 2: Now wake up 5 to 6 hours after your sleep. don't try to wake you up fully, stay still try to recall the dream, what did you saw? what was the last thing before waking? if something comes in mind, recall it and write it down in your dream journel,  find a dream sign ( A sign that can only be possible in dreams, find it note it in your mind ) and wake yourself fully go to bathroom and drink some water etc..
  •  3: Now go to sleep, concentrate single-mindedly on your intention to remember to recognize that you’re dreaming. Affirm yourself “Next time I’m dreaming, I want to remember I’m dreaming.”  try to feel that you mean it. Intent it say it again and again. If your mind wander to thinking about anything else, bring your mind back to your intention to remember.
  • 4: At the same time, imagine,visualize that you are back in the dream from which you have just awakened, your previous dream. This time you recognize that, it is a dream. imagine yourself when you see the dream sign say to yourself: “I’m dreaming!” it is a dream etc.. and continue your fantasy. For example, you saw you have 7 fingers in your hand or you saw yourself flying.  imagine yourself watching at fingers and saying "i am dreaming, it is a dream" or imagining flying and saying "i am dreaming" etc..
  • 5: Repeat the process imagine again 2 to 3 times, if you If all goes well, you will fall asleep and find yourself in a dream, at which point you’ll remember to notice that you are dreaming.
